Introduction

Parivartan Abhiyan Nepal (PAN), established in 2006, is a non-profit oriented, non-political, non-religious, non-governmental social organization formed by the youths and development professionals of Deusa. PAN is registered with the District Administration Office (DAO-Government of Nepal) and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) and is an autonomous and independent organization.

PAN focuses on sustainable development of rural areas supporting human resource development, providing economic opportunities, ensuring basic services and empowerment of indigenous and local people that are the basic requirements for community development. PAN initiates various programmes, activities and assists in different sectors such as health, education, eco-tourism, gender sensitisation, social mobilisation, social empowerment and institutional capacity building.

Vision

PAN envisages prosperous rural communities with developed facilities of basic services and infrastructure, conserved environment and preserved culture.

Mission

The mission of PAN is to make the rural areas better places to live in by empowering and assisting the local people in development initiatives.

Objectives

1. To empower and build capacity of its members, organizations and local communities for their active participation in the development process.

2. To identify the needs of rural communities and initiate development activities with the participation of local communities.

3. To address the burning issues related to sustainable development in rural communities.

4. To bring people into the mainstream of development and poverty reduction through social mobilization.

5. To raise awareness and preserve indigenous knowledge and local traditions and cultures.

6. To establish networking with national and international organizations to initiate development activities collaboratively to achieve the common goal.

Strategy and Approach

Parivartan Abhiyan, Nepal aims to improve the living standard of rural communities by helping to preserve the environment, culture and identity of rural areas through the participation of local people in needs-based development activities. It practices an “Appreciative and Participatory Approach” in implementing its programmes and projects.
